Project Cost Controls Specialist
Position Overview
Sprint Mechanical is seeking a detail-driven and analytical Cost Controls & Change Management Specialist to support large-scale semiconductor and data center construction projects. This role is responsible for cost tracking, forecasting, change order management, and preparation of Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates. The ideal candidate has experience in mission-critical environments and understands the fast-paced, high-precision demands of semiconductor and data center construction. This position plays a critical role in protecting project financial performance while maintaining transparency and alignment with client expectations. This role operates within highly technical and fast-moving semiconductor, data center and industrial construction projects. The Cost Controls & Change Management Specialist must be detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and capable of maintaining financial discipline in dynamic project environments.

Key Responsibilities
Cost Controls & Forecasting
- Monitor and track project budgets, commitments, and actual costs
- Maintain cost reports and forecasting tools
- Identify cost trends, risks, and potential overruns
- Support monthly financial reviews with project leadership
- Track labor productivity and cost performance indicators
Change Management
- Manage change order processes from identification through approval
- Prepare pricing breakdowns and supporting documentation
- Coordinate with estimating, project management, and field teams
- Maintain change logs and ensure timely submission to clients
- Track approved, pending, and disputed changes
Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) Estimates
- Develop ROMs for scope growth, design changes, and field conditions
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and field input to support pricing
- Collaborate with estimating and operations to validate assumptions
- Provide quick-turn pricing for client-driven changes in fast-paced environments
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed cost documentation and audit trials
- Support client audits and financial reviews
- Utilize project management platforms (Procore or similar) for tracking
- Ensure alignment with contract terms and change provisions
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Estimators
- Coordinate with client project controls teams
- Support executive reporting on cost exposure and projections
Technology & Software Experience

Preferred Experience & Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in construction cost controls or project controls
- Experience managing change orders and cost forecasting
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and scope management
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments
- Experience in semiconductor or data center construction
- Experience preparing or reviewing ROM estimates
- Familiarity with mission-critical or industrial mechanical systems
- Knowledge of earned value management (EVM) principles
